Covering Protests

This article reveals the obstacles that many photojournalists faced while covering protests at the Republican National Convention a few weeks ago. A handful were arrested - one of them a 2 time NPPA photojournalist of the year.

wow! this footage is ridiculous...there are three specific parts of the video that really stick out to me...1. when the woman holding a flower is being pepper sprayed for NO REASON (this infuriates me) and 2. when the policeman was trying to pummel the photographer until he realized that he was, in fact, a photographer and not a protester. and 3. when the videographer is taken out by the police as well. This video is a testament to the dangers photojournalists face and also an inspiration for me to stick my neck out and cover nationally relevant news....wow
